Everything Water

Since we got here to San Antonio one thing that me and Alex noticed was that our water smelled like chlorine, we thought it was weird but didn't put too much thought to it. Then we got a letter in the mail from a water filter company that said they would come and test our water for free. We figured it couldn't hurt to know exactly what was in our water, even if we didn't want the product, so we called them and they sent a really nice guy to come out and test it for us. What we learned was crazy. Our water had five times as much chlorine in it than they legally allow in swimming pools. Uck! Our water was off the charts of how hard it was, and that didn't even show what exactly what was in it. Needless to say that when he went into the Water filter/conditioner company he represented we were listening to everything. We ended up loving the whole basis the company was based on with pure water and biodegradable soaps and ended up buying the filter/conditioner. It wasn't too expensive either. Yay!! They came and installed it the next day. So we now have clean wonderful water!! We think that part of the reason our levels of chlorine was so high is because we have the water tower less than a quarter mile from our house and the tower is where they add all the chemicals. But we don't have to worry about it now!!

The new water filter/conditioner in our garage
In other news, we had our first big thunder storm here a few days ago, it was crazy!! The rain was so heavy that we now understand why there are storm drains everywhere! The lighting was so bright it was blinding and the thunder made our lights flicker!! Big storm!!

Also we got a calling in church!! Me and Alex are team teaching the 9 year olds in primary!! We taught for the first time yesterday and I think it went well! We have a big group of kids, there are about 10 of them, but they are sweet and listen pretty well for only being 9. We hope and pray to be able to teach them something! Hope that everyone is doing well!! Love and miss you all!!

Unhappy Puppy

Yesterday we took Lixi to the vet for the first time here in Texas. She needed to have all of her shots updated and then have her yearly checkup. The people there were all very nice and friendly but of course, Lixi didn't like them or being there at all. She tried to get as far away from the vet as she possibly could. She has been grumpy with us ever since. Tonight she has been cuddled up on a pillow for a while which I thought was too funny not to grab a picture of.

The rest of us in the house aren't as grumpy as Lixi is. Alex continues to love his new job. His trainer, Richie, went to Utah for Christmas which leaves Alex with only a few things to do at work so he is able to come home a little earlier than normal which we are all happy about. I am still trying to get everything in the house exactly as I want it. I think i have redone all the closets in the house at least twice. I am also watering the lawn a ton so the roots will grow deep. Yes you read right. I am watering my lawn in December. It is crazy!! We are getting ready for a very small relaxing Christmas with just our little family. We won't have very many presents since our big gift to ourselves was our new home, but I think it was the best gift we could have gotten. We also will be able to focus more of the true meaning of Christmas. Hope that everyone is doing well and staying warm inside!!

Quick Catch Up

So here is a quick catch up on some of the things that have happened the past week or two.

For those who don't know, our moving company didn't come when they said they would so we were in our new home for  five days without our furniture or kitchen supplies or anything. It was not an exciting time. When the moving truck finally came we were super excited!! It was actually a moving Semi-truck that they used. Really cool to find out about all the different things movers do to keep things from breaking and how to pack a truck. Just wish they had been there five days earlier!!

Part of Alex's job is to go to different job sites and put up temporary fixes for things that happened and decide what needs to happen to permanently fix them. Like if someone knocks over a stop sign, he puts up a temporary one and things like that. Anything that involves asphalt or concrete or other paving materials and anything that goes down into it. So to do this part of the job he needs a few different types of tools, and the company pays for them. When we went and bought the tools for him he was like a little kid on Christmas. He was so excited and as soon as he got home he got them all out and put everything together. It was quite fun to watch him smiling like a little kid.

Today we went out to run a few errands and we got hungry while we were out so we decided to stop and eat and then found this fast food stop. Couldn't believe it. Three in one. It is a Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried chicken, and a Pizza Hut in one. I had never seen one before. Pretty Cool!!

More Updates will come soon!! Love and Miss you all!!!

Hello Again!!

                                                  Hello again all!!
After a few years of neglecting my blog horribly, I am going to start up again. Me and my husband have recently moved to Texas, leaving all our family in Utah and Oregon, and since we are no longer live close enough to see them often I figured it would be nice to give everyone updates on how and what we are doing down here in Texas. I promise I will try to give new updates often so you can keep up with us even though we are far away!! We love and miss everyone so much!! Below are some pictures of our new house if you haven't been able to see it yet. Hope that everyone is doing wonderful wherever you are and that the Christmas season is in your hearts and homes!!

Love

I learned a ton in the past few months about love. As a little girl I thought it was some wonderful thing that would just hit you and then you would live happily ever without any problems. Then as a teenager I realized that love takes work. You have to be willing to give of yourself to make any type of relationship stable and lasting. And now I realize that love really is as wonderful as it seemed as a child, and it does take work, but when two people both give and take, that is when things actually work. You have to talk and express yourself and most importantly how you feel about the other person. You have to be willing to open up and give all of your hopes and fears to them and not be afraid to put your emotions out on the line. And then suddenly, something more wonderful than ever opens up to you. A trusting loving perfect best friend who will always be there by your side.
Love is so much more than holding hands and
feeling your heart flutter, it is being able to look at the other person and seeing the rest of eternity in their eyes. A kiss is no longer just a flood of endorphins, it is a soft glow of being forever at home.
I realize now that I am only beginning to understand the love and happiness that God intends to have, and am so grateful that I got through my messy and hard teenage years to reach this moment. And I am so looking forward to learning so much throughout the rest of eternity.

I love you Alexander Ryan Jensen.
